Membership Renewal

Dear fellow Viewmount Members,

As we enter אלול and begin to the turn the page from תשפ'ג to תשפ'ד, we have an opportunity to look at our past with reflection and use it as an opportunity to build for our future. תשפ'ג represented the first “normal” year after the disruptions of COVID in which we can rejoin fully as a קהילה in תפילה, share in שמחות and rebuild our בית המדרש and children’s programming. Like many large shuls throughout the world, the emergence of שטיבלך have impacted our enrolment and revenue. While we don’t disparage the sincere desire for the connections these שתיבלך provide; we hope that we can bring many people back “home.”  -  ברב עם הדרת מלך.

The infrastructure and services that have been built by current and past generations of our קהילה are here as a benefit to all Members. Our מקוות , social hall, בתי מדרשים, cemetery and beautiful בית כנסת are jewels in the crown of our city.

The shul is not immune to the impact of the inflationary economy – whether it be infrastructure costs, human resources or maintenance costs, the shul has been under increasing pressure. We have tried our best to keep our fees low, while maintaining and increasing the services available to our Members. Accordingly, we have brought our membership fees in line with the other similar shuls in the city and have created enhanced membership options – איש כמתנת ידו – so we can further enhance our services and programming.

We are welcoming a new cohort of lay leadership to the shul, a Senior Council, which will act as Advisors and assist in programming to deliver the enhancements we are seeking.

We are privileged to have within our community -  עמודים , עסקנים and תלמידי חכמים – the likes of which don’t exist elsewhere in the world. Just as תשפ'ג turns to תשפ'ד – what has been accomplished in the past is an opportunity to build for the future.

We’d like to welcome Atara Rosenberg as our new Secretary in the coming days. We are fortunate to have her joining our administration and know she will provide added service and professionalism.
